The world is social distancing right now and you might be looking for new ways to have fun inside the comfort of your own home.

Now is the time to do all those things which you have been putting off for months!

Self isolating might start taking a toll on your mental health, so make sure make time to look after yourself and stick to a good daily routine.

Fun things to do at home when you’re bored

MANICURE

You don’t need to go to a nail bar to get perfectly manicured nails.

It is both expensive and time consuming.

After a couple of practices you will look like you’ve just stepped out of the salon anyway! To do my nails I use this Terresa lamp which is really high quality for a low price!

FACIAL

Instead of going to the spa, there are loads of homemade recipes you can use with ingredients which have probably been sitting in your cupboard for ages!

Take some time for yourself and try these simple recipes.

PLAY BOARD GAMES OR CARDS

Board games are a great way to pass some time when you are bored.

You probably have loads of classics in the cupboard which you have forgotten all about!

PLAY COMPUTER GAMES

I have never been much of a gamer but this changed a couple of weeks ago. I suddenly understood why people spend whole weekend sat infront of a screen unable to move.

The addictiveness is real!!

LEARN HOW TO RELAX

Anyone who suffers with anxiety probably can’t remember the last time they actually felt ‘relaxed’.

Think long and hard about what are the main obstacles which keep you from feeling relaxed. Write about what you can do to help you relax and make a plan to implement this in to your life going forwards.

TAKE A BUBBLE BATH

Once you have learnt how to relax, take a bubble bath! The ultimate relaxation activity.

If you want to be a bit ‘extra’, set up a candle, nice smelling bath salts, a glass of wine and a good book.

Relaxation achieved.

DO A JIGSAW

Jigsaws are by FAR the most underrated activity in the world. Once you start, you’ll be surprised how quickly you get sucked in and 3 hours go past.

This are my favourite as they have some really beautiful pictures.

If you’re feeling SUPER geeky you can treat yourself to this jigsaw board.

Yes, a jigsaw board.

One of my favourite buys ever as I can easily put the puzzle away for later.

READ A BOOK

People who say they don’t like reading just haven’t found their type of book yet.

Ever since buying my kindle I can’t get enough of reading. My list on Goodreads of books I want to read is out of control.

Why not try reading a genre you have never read before? If you don’t feel like branching out, you could always read Harry Potters for the 4th time….

MEDITATE AT HOME

Some people love it, some people don’t – either way don’t knock it til you try it.

Meditation reduces stress and anxiety and increases mental focus. It is also very calming if you are one of those people who finds it hard to relax!

My favourite meditation app is headsace but there are so many good ones out there to try.

WRITE IN YOUR JOURNAL

Sometimes I find it hard to find the time to write daily in my journal, but when I am bored I have no excuse.

If you need inspiration about what to write about try these journal prompts to get to know yourself to get you started.

WATCH A FILM

We have no excuse for boredom when we have so much choice available to us!

Grab your duvet and some popcorn and settle down for a couple of hours to watch a good film.

BINGE WATCH A SERIES

Not the most productive use of time but sometimes it’s good to let yourself be absorbed by a thrilling new series!!

Nowadays there is so much choice on Netflix you will never be short of something to watch.

COOK

Whether you’re a natural cook or not there is always something to try suited to your taste and ability!

When you are stuck at home bored, why not cooking something new for a challenge? If you make something in a large batch that you can  even freeze and save some for the future if there’s any left….

BAKE

I have always found baking really therapeutic.

Cookies or cupcakes are my go to.

There is always something new to try. You could surprise a friend for their birthday or just keep it all to yourself.

PHONE A FRIEND

Been meaning to catch up with someone for a very long time but just not got around to it?

Now is the perfect time to call them up for a chat.

These are my top activities when I am looking for fun things to do when bored at home. I hope they have inspired you and cured your boredom!
