I know what you’re thinking –
is saying positive affirmations to myself every day reaaaaaally going to help me to be less depressed?
I get it, used to be skeptical of them too.
Talking to yourself in the mirror?
Sounds a liiiiittle weird.
However – I can’t tell you how much Positive affirmations have helped me through anxiety and depression!
When you are depressed, your self esteem and confidence are probably the lowest that they have ever been and you might be thinking that you will never be happy again.
Holding on to negative beliefs about myself were a large part of my depression and anxiety. These are things that you so strongly believe to be true about yourself, but actually are just your opinion.
For example, you have been telling yourself that you are ugly for so long that you now no longer question it and accept to to be true.
The good news is that you can unlearn these beliefs, in the same way that you learned them in the first place, and instead replace them with something else.
Think carefully about which negative beliefs you hold about yourself – and then try replacing these with something kinder.
By working affirmations into your routine you will slowly start to become more confident and see results in your life. For more on how to do positive affirmations and make sure you actually end up doing them see my post on positive affirmations for confidence.
If you haven’t tried them already, start for 2 minutes today.
You need to bear in mind that it is not an instant fix – I think that is where I originally went wrong.
You can’t just go and say them to yourself for 2 minutes then wonder why you aren’t feeling strong and confident overnight.
I have created the most effective ones on a list for your below so you don’t even need to think of which ones to say – you can literally go and start now!
